How to see the history of each visitor to your site
Tell new and returning visitors apart, filter the list, open each person's session history, and give them a name with identify().
Get to know your visitors and their history, step by step
Let's get to know your visitors: how many are new, how many return, and everything each one did on your site.
1Unique, New, Returning, and average duration
Up top are four numbers for the period: Unique visitors, how many are New, how many are Returning because they'd visited before, and their Average duration.
2The visitor list and the All / Returning / New / single session filter
Below is the list. For each visitor you see their origin, sessions, pages, events and last visit. Those who come back get the Returning tag.
This selector picks who to see: All, Returning, or New with one session. Choose Returning to see your most loyal customers.
3A visitor's details: first visit and Recent sessions
Click a visitor to open their history. Up top are their first and last visit, and the tags show where they came from and how active they are.
Recent sessions lists each visit: when it started, its source, entry page and duration. The Bounce tag means they saw just one page.
4Named visitors: identify() from the SDK
Why does this customer have a name and the rest a code? The store calls identify from the SDK when someone signs in, with their email or ID.
From then on, the visitor shows up with that ID in the list and their history, so you find them in a second.
Check new and returning visitors, filter the list, open each history, and use identify to give them a name.
